Climate Change History

Arizona was a founding member of the Southwest Climate Change Initiative and established emissions targets with Executive Order 2006-13.

Current & Future Action

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality is currently working on mapping wetlands throughout the state using NWI protocols.  Wetlands are to be identified at the Cowardin class level.  The project is expected to complete in 2011.  This mapping effort is intended to assist the state in monitoring wetland conditions and trends.

Pilot Programs/Current Studies

The state does not, as yet, have any specific pilots or case studies dealing with wetlands and climate change.
